Our story
A family story, generations of craft, and a commitment to more sustainable fashion.
It all began in Madagascar
In 1995, Chabina founded LOI Confection in Madagascar. The factory grew into a production partner for international brands such as Jacadi, Bonpoint and Tartine et Chocolat. Today, LOI employs over 1,000 artisans and produces mainly babywear and childrenswear.
The Azala vision
Sofiane, Chabina's son, watched the mountains of fabric offcuts pile up in the workshops. He imagined a brand that would turn those scraps into premium pieces for babies and children. Azala was born from that vision: giving materials a second life and creating unique, durable, meaningful pieces.
Collections that tell a story
Quilted vests, Liberty bloomers, patchwork bags, crochet baskets — every Azala piece blends Malagasy craftsmanship with Paris-led design. The "Éclat" collection embodies that philosophy: vibrant colours, joyful prints, materials with a past.
A new chapter
Today Azala is an upcycling studio and production partner for fashion brands. From material sourcing to finished product, we support designers building upcycled collections — backed by the production strength of LOI Confection.
Our values
Sustainability
100% upcycling. No virgin material. Every creation valorises what already exists.
Transmission
Craft is passed down. From mother to son, from artisan to artisan.
Empowerment
Over 1,000 artisans in Madagascar, the majority of them women.
