Our story
There are stories that begin with a simple gesture of love. Azala's story began in 1995, when Chabina, driven by a profound vision, founded LOI Confection in Madagascar. More than a business, it was a promise: to create clothing of impeccable quality, while actively participating in the economic and social development of her country.
In this workshop, where each piece is crafted with humanity and care, Chabina has always believed in the transformative power of local expertise. She has focused on the empowerment of women and the social advancement of each individual—values that have guided every decision, every action.
In a spirit of transmission, Chabina suggested to her son Sofiane that they give a second life to the precious scraps of designer fabrics that the workshop generates daily. Why let these textile treasures disappear in the flames of an incinerator?
Azala was born from this shared conviction: the most beautiful children's clothing is that which lasts, is passed down, and carries a soul within it. It is the perfect balance between recycling and Malagasy artisanal excellence. The most beautiful fabric scraps are transformed under the fingers of our Malagasy fairies. Crochet, patchwork, braiding, surprising combinations of raffia and gravel... Each seam, each finish, each embroidery is done by hand, with the demand for a job well done that characterizes the artisans of Madagascar.
Today, the Azala story has inspired many, and it's teamwork that brings the products you discover to life. Sofiane and Chabina have joined them: Lalatiana, Laurence, Emeline, Charlotte, Marine, Justine, and Automne. Many thanks to all these women who carry Azala's mission within them.
Azala is more than a brand. It's the story of a mother and son who transformed discarded items into treasures, expertise into heritage, and a vision into tangible reality.
